Desert Palm Polo Estate Dubai - The Real Oasis In The Desert
When your client says “I need you jump on a plane and follow me around the world as I open new resorts” the only answer is of course - yes! Desert Palm is a luxury resort located in Dubai, that’s point of difference is in a country full of desert, it has green grass and a polo field.
The Brief
The type of luxury traveller that Desert Palm was seeking to attract is not easily impressed. They’ve seen crystal clear water before, and are looking for a unique travel experience with luxurious substance.

Green grass may not seem like a luxury to us, but when you’re surrounded by desert, a lush polo field is the kind of specialness that attracts jewellery and car brands wanting to collaborate. The brief was to highlight these unique points of difference in an “as it happens” style.
The Plan
We flew to Dubai and spent the first 24 hours getting to know the resort, staying in the rooms and experiencing it for ourselves.
We knew lighting conditions would be bright and harsh throughout the day, so we scheduled the shoot to optimise shooting at first light and in the evening.
The plan was also to show the personality behind the resort. Any resort can deliver luxury, a discerning client wants substance and a unique experience.
The Shoot
Having a world class polo resort is more than just lawn. There’s a commitment to training high level horses, the story of which added the unique element we were looking for in our photo journalistic approach.
The soft light of morning combined with the dramatic light of late afternoon, for a warm tone throughout the photos.
