Fallen - Rising from "The Block"
Warwick Jones and his wife Polly, were the 2011 winners of the hit tv show, “The Block”. Lets just say, Wazza was pretty clever with his hands. This has lead him start up his own fine furniture business on the Central Coast. Waz reached out to us to not only take photos of his work but to also collaborate in the design of the sets, colour palette and overall look and feel of the shots.
The Brief
Through working with a brand management team, Warwick already had the colours picked out for his website. With this in mind, he obviously wanted to make sure the images would match the feel and design of the webpages.
Warwick asked for “dramatic lighting so we can see every grain of wood". We opted to only use 1 studio light for the shoot to give us that directional lighting he was after.
The Shoot
“Waz asked if we Can we get the chair floating”
Every shoot we do has a different level of involvement. For this shoot, we discussed the best stage and setting for the furniture. While Waz had the great idea of the colour planels that matched his website colours, we assembled the rig for the floating chair set. We also worked togther on these on-set aspects.
Painted boards to match website
Lighting equipment to achieve the directional lighting required
Assembly of the “floating chair” by constructing a rig with fishing wire to make it appear the chair was floating.
Building of a “stage to lift the piece off the ground,” so that they looked like works of art.
The Feedback
Warwick was really happy with the investment made in the photography. Examples of it’s use on his website can be seen below. With the full gallery of images from his shoot, also displayed below.
